In late 1917 - early 1918, Odessa faced the problem of lack of cash, the solution of which was the issue of its own money. In addition to ruble banknotes, in the first months of 1918, city exchange marks began to be printed and entered into circulation. In March, money stamps were issued with a denomination of 50 kopecks, in April - at 15 and 20 kopecks. On their obverse, the coat of arms of Odessa was depicted in an ornamental frame, on the reverse side there was a denomination in a rosette, a frame and an inscription: "Varied stamp of the city of Odessa fake is prosecuted by law."
